Meme from [info]m_aenea

- Comment with "Hit me!"
- I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you.
- Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
- Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people.

1. What's your most memorable game moment?

Wow, so many...I guess I'll pick the odd one, not involving Hyrule! So once in my dormitory, a bunch of guys decided to play SoulCalibur 2 on XBox and I just walked by. I've never used that controller before, but I managed to pwn 8 guys in the room with Talim in the VS mode. It was pretty hilarious, they just kept passing the controller around until one of them managed to beat me.

2. The best, or most interesting, class you've taken?

I've taken some odd classes with some memorable moments such as hilarious demonstrations of Newtonian mechanics and slides of pre-Columbian Peruvian sculptures that showed how obsessed the culture was with anal sex (taught by an openly gay professor who is one of the funniest guys I've met), but I guess overall the most interesting class was Western Humanities. That class was taught by a former army captain that was really a professor of Greek history. He was also a devout Christian so he was really enthusiastic about all the topics he had to teach (Greeks, Romans, Christianity, Dante, Shakespeare, Machiavelli) and I never fell asleep in his lectures.  Somewhere with all the serious stuff he tells a lot of anecdotes such as how he caught a guy watching porn during his lecture and how 20-year old guys are the worst at...not thinking about "that".  Great advice, professor.

3. Obligatory zombie apocalypse question!: Where is the first place you'd go for safety? Or would you just stay put?

Assuming I'm armed already ;) I'll have to go to the local middle school.  I'm familiar with the floor plan and it's easy to barricade the main entrances (since it needs to function as a semi prison to keep the kids in). The school I'm thinking of is built like a fort, with lots of balconies, staircases, hiding places and small windows that are sniper-friendly. Plus there would probably be edible food lying around, and water.

4. If you could master one kind of art medium, what would it be? (pastels, charcoal, oil painting, etc.)

The part of me that wants instant e-fame would like to master digital painting, but honestly, I'd have to go with oil painting. Digital painting is very clean and aesthetically pleasing, but it's way too easy to distribute (people will find a way to download it or pass it off as their own) and probably much less profitable because of that. I mean, do you know a really, really famous digital artist who makes money entirely on their prints? Eh...

Oil painting is much easier to keep track of and requires a lot of skill and practice (actual techniques, color theory, etc) and it can be manipulated a lot more easily than digital paints. And oil paintings are things I'd like to hand on walls, not digital prints. :D

5. Who is the first fictional character you 'cared' about? Who is your favorite fictional character now?

Ahaha double question...the first one would definitely be Siegfried/Nightmare's 3P costume in SC2! I just can't describe it...I still think he looked best in that game. He was also pretty distinct from the other characters in looks and back story so that helped. xD Right now though, it's probably Toon Link since he's just so small and cute!!! OMG :D I have a Toon Link doll right on my bed and he has the funniest little ears ever. Hmm, I hope I didn't sound like a pedo...

Well this is unexpected

  • Jun. 4th, 2011 at 1:18 AM
yes, drool

Is that...a male sword and shield character? He looks a bit like Siegfried...17 years later? Does that mean a new cast since that would make Voldo need a wheelchair and everyone else too old to be heroes? And "mother"? SOULCALIBUR V? Whaaaaaat?

:D :D :D

If there is one person or more on your friends list who makes your world a better place just by existing and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the internet, then post this in your journal.

Yay! Time to celebrate

*glint*

Holy crap, finals week is next week but all I can think about is messing around.  There's still a ton of things I have to do, one of them is to check whether the transfer thing went all right. Stupid school. On the plus side, I've done pretty well in English class this year. The professor suggested I publish my last Kafka paper :D

Anyway, a special holiday fic for [info]m_aenea .  It is too early for Christmas, I know. But this isn't really about Christmas so I'm using that for an excuse of why this is early! Might show up on ffnet though XD. Enjoy!! And I'm looking forward to seeing more fics from you in the future!

Holiday Spirit )

I'm curious to know how many odd things in the plot that people notice. I'm sure at least one person acted a bit out of character at least once, but hey...I didn't do it without reason!

I don't know what to think anymore!

Well, here is my third college in the past couple years...needless to say, I'm really disappointed in the quality of this one. You get what you pay for, I guess. For example, my organic chemistry lab (does anyone remember how dangerous some of the chemicals are??) tells you to bring your own gloves, paper towels, soap, goggles, and to store your things in these lockers that cost 25 cents every time to open.

The lack of paper towels is what really gets me. In the event of a spill, if you must use your clothing to mop the table and floor if you don't have paper towels, unless you have no guilt of letting acids burn a hole in the floor.  (I know I don't!! Stupid school!). And here's the best part. The lab requires a $200 textbook because the instructor doesn't want to write a lab manual or talk about the lab procedure in a compact, effective manner.

Enough blabbing now. I need THE TRANSFER PAPERS.

Also, the Sims and the little sister.  So she's made the entire family into Sims and gave everyone personalities like in real life.  I'm the most unhappy one because no one in my family likes me. That's a little funny, I guess. And my other sister keeps picking fights with my mom.

I have to get that kid off the computer.

Is SC5 really going to be decided by a Facebook page/petition?? Oh well..let's hope they listen to the fans and focus it on gameplay instead of tacky guest characters again. Hoping for something as epic as "Soulcalibur" or Soul Calibur 2", still!

By the way, happy birthday, bri_ecrit!

Because my real life sucks too much for words, here are some things I do in the Sims. I can't seem to find the shot of the whole house but I gotta say, it's cool.

Oops, ignore that painting.

Creepy little girl's room.

Back of the main hall.

Living room.

Stairwell.

Cutaway to the main bedroom.

Who's that? LOL. It would be much funnier if they weren't wearing so much but I made them too skinny :D

Rudiger

  • Jul. 4th, 2010 at 12:34 AM
*glint*
Hmm...so much crap happened in the past month or so that I won't elaborate on. But aside from watching the FIFA World Cup at scattered locations over NY and screaming my lungs out, I've taken a liking to the ninsheetmus forums and trying to transcribe some Soul Calibur songs.

Ohh yeah, at the moment my name on facebook is "Rudiger". Just some random thing I did. Friends' responses were hilarious.

GEEK: rudiger?! relaly?

Rudiger: hey shut up!

you have a picture of a kid on your profile...

GEEK: you have a picture of a stuff doll, hope you are not thinking of getting married =P.

Rudiger: /)=__=(\

that is wrong on so many levels.

What are you going to do about that kid huh??  (Turns out the kid was actually the geek, time is sooo cruel)

Random Friend:  Um...where did "Rudiger" come from anyways? O.o?

Rudiger: The Simpsons =D

Random Friend:
Hm...prob. a new episode I never saw XDb!

Rudiger:
Episode aired in 1993 xD "Bart's Inner Child"

A rather brief conversation from my friend in Germany on this "sudden change"

[6/30/2010 4:33:38 PM] Friend: hellol Rudiger

[6/30/2010 4:39:55 PM] Friend::D
[6/30/2010 4:40:13 PM] Me: XDDDDD
[6/30/2010 4:45:44 PM] Me: yeah that's one random ass name
[6/30/2010 4:45:51 PM] Me: but it was in the simpsons
[6/30/2010 4:53:31 PM] Friend: really:?
[6/30/2010 4:56:00 PM] Me: yeah i know it's a guy's name but it's hilarious
[6/30/2010 5:02:25 PM] Friend: xD

Maybe I should name my future kid "Rudiger". And then I remembered my teacher's birthday was the next day so I wished her a happy birthday while my name was still "Rudiger", then someone on my friend list called me by that name, thinking I was someone she just added. Oops.

One more thing...GO DEUTSCHLAND!! XD

Writer's Block: Father nature

What is your fondest childhood memory of your father or grandfather?

View 1445 Answers

I haven't ever met my paternal grandpa, but my dad said that he never had any money around the house, smoked opium and had a rank of sorts in our home village (now part of a city).

My maternal grandpa, I guess it would be visiting him in his farm and talking to him under the big old tree by the pond.  He talked about his farm life a lot, but the land has developed recently so he just sits around his new, modern apartment and does laundry all day.

My dad, I have so many I can't pick just one :D. He is way more supportive and understanding than my mom has ever been.  He's also the Santa Claus of the family, unfortunately, many of his relatives are ungrateful and spoiled.

Here's some rather recent ones about my dad, I am too tired to list all the ones from my childhood lol.

-My aunt (who works as a home assistant to this elderly couple that introduced my mom to my dad) offering us lai see for good luck, because we were leaving China tomorrow. My dad offered her $20 USD (which is about $130 yuan, a worker's 3-day salary) earlier in the evening, which she politely refused, unlike her husband (my uncle).  When she gave us the lai see (which had a total of $40 yuan) in front of my (greedy) uncle who just watched us, my dad went his room and handed her $100 USD (which is almost a month's worth of wages in yuan).

-My dad talking me to the park he took my mom to when he was dating and telling me about all the different flowers and helping me find good lotuses to photograph :D

-Paying my cousin through high school and college, while also giving her money to spend on herself.

-Telling me about the old Chinese sayings he learned in school, using them in his everyday life. He told me this interesting one about the stalk and the grain to talk about the fight between his nephews (one who is a money hungry, cruel guy, the other is more meek. They were arguing about their inheritance).  He said the stalk was being fed to the flames that were cooking the grain when they both came from the same seed. Very interesting :D.
